The Pilates Movement Teacher Training is NOW ENROLLING at Contrology Studio!

WHAT IS THE PILATES MOVEMENT TEACHER TRAINING?

The Pilates Movement (TPM) is a state licensed 550 hour Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program, that is held at Contrology Studio in Louisville, CO, and led by studio owner & Program Director Whitney Shea, PTA, CPT, RYT.

The program consists of 84 lecture-style hours, over a course of 5 module training (see schedule below), as well as 466 lab / hands-on learning hours.

The Pilates Movement: Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training

The required 466 TPM lab / hands-on hours consist of :

Observation (60 hours) : Observing CS teachers or other approved teachers

Pilates Practice (100 hours) : This includes self Pilates practice, as well as classes & lessons with CS teacher, fellow TPM peers, or another approved teacher. Students will have access to Contrology Studio to help fulfill their Pilates practice hours.

Self-Study Miscellaneous Hours (62 hours) : This includes completing required and recommended readings, studying module materials, peer study groups, and optional CS workshops & cadaver labs.

Practice Teaching (240 hours): This includes time spent practice teaching the exercises (outside of the module weekends), in both one-on-one and group class settings. Before they begin teaching, students are required to attain their own teaching liability insurance, and email a current copy of their insurance policy to the School Director.

Teaching in front of the School Director (4 hours) : This will be one hour teaching for modules 1 – 4. It will be either a one-on-one session or small group class in front of the School Director, with feedback given from the school director half way through, and at the end of the session.

The program will teach you the how’s and why’s of the Classical Pilates exercises on all of the original Pilates apparatus : Pilates Mat | Magic Circle | Reformer | Cadillac | Tower | Chair | Spine Corrector | Ladder Barrel – as well as prepare you to work with common diagnosis and special populations such as : clients with common complaints / injuries, medical precautions, and pre and post-natal clients. The licensed PT’s, PTA’s, and Pelvic Health Therapists at Contrology Studio will be leading presentations in Module 1, and will be great resources for our students in training throughout their program.

Students will learn how to teach safe, fun, and effective one-on-one Pilates sessions, as well as group Pilates classes (of all sizes and levels). We’ll even spend some time visiting a few other Pilates studios in the area to learn about the different types of Pilates equipment – so that you’re familiar and comfortable when it’s time to teach at your dream studio!

WHAT MAKES THE PILATES MOVEMENT DIFFERENT?

TPM has gone the extra mile to ensure the integrity and quality of the education we provide, by becoming a licensed Private Occupational School through the Division of Private Occupational Schools in the state of Colorado. We’re honored and proud to be one of the few Pilates teacher training programs in the states that carry this title.

Our mission is simple… To make an impact in the Pilates industry by providing support and care to each student, through education of the Classical (traditional) Pilates Method – while moving the needle forward with science-backed information, mentorship, and community.

Our program doesn’t just focus on the HOW of each exercise… but the WHY of each exercise. We encourage our students to : think critically, ask why, and to become hireable, accessible, compassionate, and well-rounded Pilates teachers.

After completing the required 550 hours + passing your final written exam, you will be a Certified Pilates Teacher, & you will also meet the requirements to sit for the Comprehensive National Pilates Certification Exam, if you so choose.

LIFE – LONG LEARNING

Once you’ve graduated the program, you’re welcome to audit any future TPM module weekend, for FREE, for LIFE! This means that you’ll have access to continuing education within the TPM community, and be able to learn & re-learn the material as many times as you’d like, for as long as you’d like, at no extra cost.

And it should be noted, that as medical research changes, so will we, and so will how we teach and lead our TPM students and grads! Pilates requires life-long learning, and we’re committed to being on the forefront of continued Pilates education!

HOW LONG WILL THE PROGRAM TAKE & WHAT IS THE FINANCIAL INVESTMENT?

It takes an estimated 12 months from the time you start your hours to to finish the program… That’s assuming you’re completing roughly 9 hours / week for 12 months + attend our 5 required module weekends in 2026 (see our module schedule below). If you need to miss a module, there are options to make up the material with Whitney (students will need to pay additionally for the make-up time).

Once you’ve registered for the program, you’re welcome to start the required lab / hands-on hours right away! This means you’ll likely be ahead of the game by the time we start our module weekends in 2026.

The 2026 module weekend dates and times for our first round of Teacher Training are listed below :

WHAT’S THE NEXT STEP?

The next step is to schedule a Teacher Training Discovery Session with Program Director, Whitney Shea. This session can be done either in-person or virtually (depending on schedules), and is used to learn about why you’re interested in becoming a Pilates teacher, what you hope to get most out of the program, review program enrollment requirements, program expectations, and answer and remaining questions you may have about The Pilates Movement Teacher Training Program!

And if (when!) you decide to register for the program, you’ll be asked to read over and e-sign our TPM Enrollment Agreement, as well as email us a copy of a current CPR certification.
